“A big comedy about the little things in life.” This quote comes from the cover of Gigantic and it couldn’t be more wrong. There were no laughs for me in this movie. The story centers around the awkward romance between Brian Weathersby (Paul Dano) and Happy Lolly (Zooey Deschanel) which and to add to the story, Brian wants to adopt a Chinese baby. These two events are definitely not “the little things in life”.

Each character in the film is socially awkward and their lines are written poorly. Because of this, one can easily bore from the story of a smudged relationship. To make this film even weirder, they have invited Zach Galifianakis to be a homeless man who shows up a few times just to beat up Brian Weathersby. I am still trying to figure out why they had the homeless man engage the main character.

I personally think the quote on the cover should read “Awkward film about the big things in life”. Can someone please explain the reason for Zach Galifianakis’s character?
